The President received a comprehensive briefing on the performance of the AIFC for 2023 and the first quarter of the current year, as well as the plans for the development of the centre.

According to Renat Bekturov, since its establishment, the financial centre has facilitated the attraction of investments into the country totaling over $11 billion (including $3,5 billion in 2023 and the first 3 months of this year), surpassing the initial target set for 2025.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was also informed of the record-breaking number of registrations of new participants in the AIFC in 2023, totaling more than 670 companies, bringing the total count to over 2600 companies from 78 countries. Additionally, during 2023 and the initial three months of the current year, the centre's participants contributed 48,7 billion tenge in taxes to the country's budget. The dispute resolution institutions represented by the AIFC Court and the International Arbitration Centre are operating successfully, having handled 767 commercial cases in 2023.

The President outlined a number of critical tasks for the further development of the financial centre. In particular, he underscored the pivotal role of the AIFC in attracting green funding for the region and fostering the development of the Middle Corridor. Notably, over 60% of green bonds and loans in the country were issued with the support of the AIFC Green Finance Centre. Furthermore, within the jurisdiction of the financial centre, joint ventures operate under the framework of the Middle Corridor project.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also emphasised the importance of leveraging the AIFC infrastructure for transactional activities, urging government agencies and supervisory financial institutions to consolidate their efforts in attracting investments into the economy of Kazakhstan.
